2000 climbers have summited Everest. 23 solo rowers have crossed the Atlantic and 2, the Pacific. No one has yet crossed the South China Sea. Subic Bay to Hebe Haven in Hong Kong is a 600 nautical mile, intense ocean challenge. Up for this challenge are two 50 year old rowers who have made over 100 crossings of this route, but at 500 knots and at over 30 thousand feet. This April, 2008, they will attempt it again, but at an average speed of 2.2 knots and unassisted; the only thrust coming from 2 pairs of blades, an ocean current and prevailing winds. The reason for this madness? To be the first human powered vessel to make the passage from the Philippines to the South China Coast and in aid of the Children's Heart Foundation of Hong Kong.
